Only the Walls Left - Queens Ave. Methodist Church in Ruins

    Saturday, February 2, 1895

Below is a copy of the full page story which appeared in the Monday, February 4th, 1895 edition of the London Free Press. The article speaks of Queen's Ave. Methodist Church, however, the the church was known as North Street Church, the cornerstone for which was laid in 1852. Because of that fire a new church was built. The cornerstone was laid on July 30, 1895 and the building was completed in 1896. It was named First Methodist Church. With the formation of the United Church of Canada in 1925 the name was again changed and today is known as Metropolitan United Church.

At the bottom of the page is an account from The History of the London Fire Department: of heros, helmets and hoses.
