Christmas Hampers

For many years, Metropolitan has delivered food to over 125 London families at Christmas through our Christmas Hamper program.  We are going ahead with our Christmas Hampers again this year although, out of necessity, there will be changes from our past practices.  We will be providing our “Hamper” in the form of grocery store cards to allow families to select food to best meet their own needs.  Since about 2/3 of our families are from the Limberlost Community, we are working with London Community Chaplaincy to have each family pick up their Christmas “Hamper” at Limberlost on Saturday, December 19 between 10:30 and 1:30.  We will deliver the rest of the gift cards around the city which results in a need for fewer volunteer drivers.

    Here’s what we need:

    1. We need your generous contributions.  We hope to be able to provide each family with about $120 worth of grocery store gift cards.  Since we aren’t able to see you at church to receive your donations, we hope you will deliver or mail a cheque to the church with your contribution.  An efficient alternative for those comfortable doing so is to E-Transfer your contribution to admin@metropolitanchurch.com.  It’s important that you include a note in the memo section of the E-Transfer stating the donation is for Christmas Hampers so that the money goes to the right place and include your envelope or PAR number, or your address so that your givings are properly receipted to you.
    2. We need a few drivers willing to deliver to the remaining 1/3 of our families across the city on Saturday December 19.  Please contact Dave Spencer at the email below if you’re able to drive.

As you know, the pandemic has disproportionally hurt many who are already struggling and the need now is as great as it’s ever been.  Although it will be more difficult for us to deliver our Christmas Hamper program this year, we have faith that our congregation will continue to generously support this annual outreach program.

    Much appreciation to all
