A recommendation to renovate the chancel area of the Sanctuary has been developed.

A general meeting will be held on Sunday June 27, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. to consider the recommendation.

This meeting will be held on Zoom and also in person in the sanctuary.  Advance registration is required.

A brief summary of the proposal will be presented at the meeting.   Over 85 Metropolitan United people have now seen the full presentation. For others, an information package is available.  Contact the Church office at admin@metropolitanchurch.com or 519-432-7189 ext. #21 to request a copy.

You must be on Metropolitan’s historical Roll to vote at this meeting.  There will be two motions presented:

    1. Resolved that all adherents of Metropolitan United Church in attendance at this meeting may vote on all further business of this meeting. (Full-time members on the historical roll vote on this motion; simple majority to carry.)

    2. Resolved that Metropolitan United Church accept the recommendation endorsed by the Board of Elders and Board of Trustees and supported by the Metropolitan Foundation Board to proceed with the sanctuary renovation at an estimated cost of $1 million, subject to approval from the Antler River Watershed Regional Council. Before contracting for renovations, the Board of Elders and Board of Trustees must be satisfied that sufficient funds have been committed to allow the project to proceed.

Two-thirds of the votes cast must be in favour for this second motion to carry.

If you wish to address the meeting, please advise the church office or Al Edwards at al.edwards@bell.net or 519-657-7449 to arrange for time on the agenda.  Questions and comments from the floor will be allowed two minutes per speaker.

‘Met Cares’ Meals Program and New Appeal to Church Bakers

We are pleased to inform you that our ‘Met Cares’ Meals Program will continue over the summer months.  London Cares, which distributes our hot meals directly to homeless Londoners, has asked us to increase the number of meals to 70. We were told that the folks really appreciate the meals our volunteers prepare and pack each Friday.

Thus we are launching a new appeal for those of you who would like to contribute to these meals from the safety of your own kitchen by baking and individually wrapping 70 brownies, rice krispies squares, banana loaf slices or any other sweets that will not get crushed easily in a bag (no fragile cookies please). If interested in providing sweets for one or more of the meals, please contact Chris MacKay at 519-472-7709 or cmacfink@gmail.com to arrange a date for delivery at the church.

We take this opportunity to thank very sincerely the women of the church who have provided sweets on a regular basis since January. These home-made sweets really add to our meals.

Dear Women of Metropolitan United Church,

The robins have returned and the daffodils are in bloom.  The days are longer and the sun is warmer.

Spring has arrived and we welcome it with open arms. We are blessed here in Canada and at Metropolitan United Church. We are able to listen to our Sunday service on the radio. We have much to be thankful for.
